I have a vivid memory of my mind being completely blown that you could just grow peanuts out of the ground. I’m a city kid, what do you expect? He’d roast them up and we’d enjoy. I was clearing out the shop when I came to the filing cabinet that had been in the exact spot for more than four decades. Clearing it out was heartbreaking. The deeper I got, the farther back in time I went until I got to the very bottom of the last drawer where I found an old brown paper bag with a small plastic container. I popped it open and found around a half dozen peanuts. Gramps’ peanuts. He would always save a handful for the next years crop but, after a few years of doing it, he stopped gardening altogether and so these sat…and sat…and sat.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cem\u003eMy first thought was to try and grow my own peanuts but then I remembered that I’m not much of a gardener. What I’m decent at is taking a thing and turning it into another thing.
